Having roots heavy in gospel music, De$imo began playing the piano at five years of age. During his early teens, he ventured into hip hop. When asked who influenced him most musically, he replied, “A little bit of everybody - you take a little bit from each artist and learn something.” Artists such as Smokey Robinson, Snoop Dog, Al Green, Big Daddy Kane, the Isley Brothers, Biz Markie, the Game, Styles P, and 50 Cent have made tremendous impacts on De$imo’s musical style.
As an up and coming artist, De$imo opened for Master P and Scarface in the No Limit Show – Under the Dome at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit in 1998. In addition, he’s opened acts for MC Breed at the Riverfront in Detroit, and has performed countless times at Detroit’s own Hart Plaza, as well as many other local venues.
As a writer, producer and individual recording artist, De$imo has released three albums through Sag Nasty Productions: Ball Like Sports in 2003, Money Got the Power in 2005, and 2 Hot 4 TV in May of 2007. He’s also worked in the studio recording on many of Jagged Edge’s album tracks.
Known as a talented entrepreneur in the Detroit metro area, owning his own barber and beauty shops, De$imo is a firm believer in that “Nobody knows what’s going to happen tomorrow, so you take it as it comes.”
